Started in February of 2005, The Southfield Parks and Garden Club was formed to fill a vision of having a group of volunteers to do charitable community service work within the city. We began by doing litter pickups, planting flowers for the city and school system, and cleaning/brightening up the front landscapes of needy residents. Clearing and mapping of city park trails, a Horticultural Enrichment program, and the “Fine Place Award” were added during the year. |

THE SOUTHFIELD PARKS AND GARDEN CLUB |

The Southfield Parks and Garden Club, Inc., is a non-profit tax-exempt charitable public service organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible. |

In 2006 we incorporated and gained “charitable organization” status. In 2008 we broke ground on the Emmanuel Community Farm, whose main purpose is to grow and harvest healthy, fresh fruit and vegetables for the hungry. The Farm also offers the opportunity to learn about organic gardening and other horticultural practices. Our membership reflects a wide cross-section of people within and outside of the city. SP&GC has monthly meetings, on the third Thursday, at 7 pm, in the Parks and Recreation building at the Southfield Civic Center. Most everything the Club does has something to do with the earth and land around us. We are not your everyday garden club. We are a true charity, helping those around us who are in need. Please think about volunteering, joining the Club, or sending in a donation. The Club is an all-volunteer organization, with no paid staff. We purchase as much as possible from local companies. |
